Volunteering a few hours a week is nothing compared to the impact it has on the lives of the people we serve. At the Dress for Success Atlanta holiday banquet, I realized for the first time how significant my small contribution to the organization was, when I heard the stories of some of the Professional Women's Group members. These disadvantaged women are ME. I am a high school drop-out and teenage mother; at times I was homeless, hopeless and helpless. Now I'm a college graduate with a successful career. Without the programs of Dress for Success Atlanta, women LIKE ME may not get the opportunity to prove themselves. I am living proof that a little help can go a long way. The mission of Dress for Success Atlanta is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
In 2009, Dress for Success Atlanta helped more than 1,800 women take their first steps to success and offered continuing support to them as they made the transitions into their new lives!
Dress for Success Atlanta is a not-for-profit organization that offers services to help women enter the workforce, stay employed, advance in their careers and improve their lives. It was founded as Working Wardrobe in 1997 and affiliated with Dress for Success Worldwide in 1999.
